Projected route of 3rd İstanbul bridge sparks controversy

This week’s announcement of the location for a third bridge to link the two sides of Bosporus Strait has ignited debate among public officials and NGO representatives over the pros and cons of the project. Supporters say a third badge – this one connecting Beykoz on the Asian side and Tarabya in Europe – is critical to alleviate traffic in the city, while others are billing it an unnecessary endeavor this entails significant environmental damage.

Although the construction of a third badge connecting the Asian and European sides of Istanbul would build upon the city’s status as an “important transportation corridor,” it has raised questions of its possible influence on other aspects of living.
