Turkey has proposed a new formula to Iran on behalf of the international community in an attempt to make headway in dealing with Tehran’s nuclear plans, according to the FM Davutoglu. He released detailed information about the ongoing diplomatic traffic aimed at overcoming what is termed the “low-grade uranium” problem. “All the nuclear negotiations have been run through us for the last 10 days,” said Davutoğlu, adding that he has been engaged in telephone diplomacy for the last two days with Iranian Foreign Minister Mottakki, ElBaradei; the director of the IAEA; and James Jones, a national security consultant for the White House. Davutoğlu also rejected any concerns that Turkey might not have the technological capability needed to store Iranian uranium.
After last week’s statements from Turkey’s Energy Minister Yildiz and Elbaradei about storing enriched uranium in Turkey, FM Davutoglu November 15 said they are waiting a response from Tehran where Ahmedinejad received harsh criticism from the opposition for storing the uranium outside Iran.
