Turkey’s inflation rate increases to 8.2 % in January

Turkey’s CPI rose to 8.2 % in January 2010, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute February 3. According to analysts, the index increased at a slightly higher rate than expected, driven by administered price and tax hikes of 48% above those for January the previous year.

Already running ahead of targets for the year, headline CPI is expected to exceed 9% by mid-year before tapering off in 2H2010.
