Tension marks Turkish Parliament’s Opening Debate on Reform Package

Opposition parties voiced stiff resistance on the first day of discussions of the constitutional reform package in Parliament’s General Assembly. The AKP’s, constitutional amendments package were taken up in Parliament on April 19.

While all parties agree that Turkey is in need of constitutional reform, the opposition parties appear intent to use every available parliamentary maneuver to delay their consideration.
