Turkey’s oil company likely to bid for Iraqi gas field

Türkiye Petrolleri AO (TPAO), Turkey’s state oil company, is seeking partners to bid for rights to Iraqi natural gas in auctions in September, CEO Mehmet Uysal said. TPAO bid in June with Edison SpA for the Akkas field in western Iraq. The same partnership is likely to bid again in the September auction because the first offer was rejected by Iraq.

Commercial relations between Turkey and Iraq are growing in all sectors, including energy. TPAO is interested in other fields in Iraq and is looking for international partners.
