Nuclear power talks to start with Japan

Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yıldız confirmed November 15 that talks carried out with South Korea regarding the construction of a nuclear power plant in Turkey’s Black Sea region have failed. Turkey did not pursue negotiations with other countries until then, but is now preparing to enter negotiations with Japan on a possible nuclear deal.

According to the Energy Minister, the negotiations with South Korea foundered on “fundamental issues”, such as sovereign guarantee. Turkey may well discover the same problem in its negotiations with Japan.
