Iran, Turkey aim to triple trade to $30 billion

Iran and Turkey plan to triple two-way annual trade to $30 billion by 2015, officials of the neighboring states said February 7, ahead of a visit by Turkish President Gül to the Islamic Republic. “Leaders of both the countries have set a clear target for future trade”, said Turkish State Minister Cevdet Yılmaz

Two-way trade was approximately $10 billion in 2010; about $7.6 billion worth of hydrocarbons exported from Iran to Turkey. The tripling of trade by 2015 is based on construction of a new gas pipeline for Iranian gas. Sanctions could severely curtail these export plans.
